Hima-Sella has been awarded a contract by Metronet Rail SSL to provide Tracklink III, a selective door-opening and correct side-door-enabling system.

to provide Tracklink III, a selective door-opening (SDO) and correct side-door-enabling (CSDE) system.

According to Hima-Sella, Tracklink III is designed for rail stations where there are longer trains and variable platform lengths.

This latest Metronet Rail SSL contract is for equipment to be installed on 191 new trains being built by Bombardier and for trackside beacons to be fitted on Metronet's Circle, District, Metropolitan and City lines, which form part of the London Underground network.

Tracklink III equipment will be installed on two new trains during September 2009 and then assessed at the Old Dalby test track in Leicestershire. Further tests will take place in London before the five-year roll-out programme, which ends in January 2015.

Iain Wilkinson, business development manager at Hima-Sella, said: ‘Tracklink III is essentially a "fit-and-forget" system - it's a passive system which does not require power or on-track installation so it is cost effective, easy to use and virtually maintenance free.’
