The US Army has awarded General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems an $18.6m contract modification for the manufacture, assembly, delivery, staging and fielding of M313 120mm Mortar Sub-Calibre Training Devices.

This option award brings the total contract value for 60mm, 81mm and 120mm mortar weapon systems to $44.5m. The contract being modified was initially awarded in December 2005.

The M313 120mm Mortar Sub-Calibre Training Device uses an M253 81mm cannon inserted into a mock M120 120mm Mortar System barrel, allowing 120mm mortar training to be performed with lower cost 81mm service and training ammunition.

Work will be performed at Watervliet Arsenal, New York; St. Petersburg, Florida; Huntsville, Alabama; and Bethesda, Maryland. Deliveries under this contract modification are expected to be completed by December 2008.
