New foundation for green innovators

EDF and Institut de France have created the European Foundation for Tomorrow’s Energies, an organisation that will finance teaching and research in green energy technologies.

Operating under the aegis of the Institut de France, the Foundation will enable higher education institutions to offer programmes that are adapted to the professional needs of future energy specialists.

From autumn 2008, the first international Masters in Nuclear Engineering, designed in collaboration with the University of Paris 11 and several Grandes Ecoles of Engineering, will welcome its first intake of about fifty students.

The Foundation will also support students undertaking training projects by providing study grants worth approximately €20,000.

In addition, the Foundation will support research programmes connected with energy production or the development of efficient and environmentally friendly methods of energy use and an award will be made annually to recognise work in these fields.
