New twist, old idea

Twisting the wings of an aircraft to control its motion has been done before — by the Wright brothers in 1903.

Your article on the fibre-metal laminate for aircraft structures which change shape on the application of an electrical current  was very interesting.

Although today’s technology is much more sophisticated, I seem to recall that twisting the wings of an aircraft to control its motion has been done before — by the Wright brothers in 1903.

Their plane was controlled by twisting the wings by means of cables operated by the pilot.
