Offshore contract for Rolls-Royce

Rolls-Royce has won £72m of further business on its largest ever offshore marine contract, taking the total order value to £155m.

In June 2007, the company announced an £83m contract to deliver designs and equipment for six new Rolls-Royce offshore service vessels to Nordcapital, which will be operated on their behalf by OSM Schiffahrt. The latest order covers a further four Rolls-Royce UT-Design ships.

The vessels, which are designed by Rolls-Royce and incorporate a range of its marine equipment, including diesel engines, deck machinery, thrusters and dynamic positioning systems, will be built by the Korean yard Sekwang.

John Paterson, president of Rolls-Royce President Marine, said: 'We are delighted that Nordcapital has now specified Rolls-Royce designs and systems for the whole of its current building programme for new offshore vessels.'

Rolls-Royce’s marine business is headquartered in Bristol.
