Neil Downie (letters, 27 March) makes some good points on global warming.
Despite some belated, good words from Tony Blair and others, politicians seem bent on moving the deck chairs on the Titanic as the vessel sinks. and as usual there are too many suggestions and committees and not enough action.
Much more can be done if the will is there and people are made aware of the situation. A few ideas: ask if journeys are really necessary; walk wherever possible; restrict driving speeds to 55 mph to cut fuel emissions and reduce flying for pleasure.
All new houses should be carbon neutral, using available technology, and then we need the kind of engineering/construction measures Mr Downie discusses...and more. Any more ideas?
