TAM Airlines
has made a $345m order for engines from
Pratt & Whitney,a division of Connecticut-based
United Technologies, at the Paris Air Show this week.
Under the contract, Pratt & Whitney will deliver installed and spare PW4000 100-inch (2.54m) engines for six of the Brazilian airline’s A330-200 aircraft. Pratt & Whitney Global Service Partners will also provide a 12-year service agreement for the engines.
The PW4000 engine will incorporate Advantage70 technology, which Pratt & Whitney claims will lower fuel consumption and maintenance costs while increasing durability.
TAM Airlines currently operates five A330s with Pratt & Whitney’s PW4168A engines.
