Radar contract for Ratheon

Raytheon Systems Limited (RSL) has secured its second contract from Peel Airports Group for an air traffic control radar system.

UK-based Raytheon Systems Limited (RSL) has secured its second contract from Peel Airports Group for an air traffic control radar system.

The latest multi-million pound order is for the supply and installation of an ASR-10SS Mk 2 S-Band Primary Surveillance Radar (PSR) at LiverpoolJohnLennonAirport.

As well as providing the radar RSL, as the prime contractor, will also be responsible for the installation and commissioning of the system.

The PSR itself, along with an equipment shelter, radar cabinets, control and monitoring system, power distribution and air conditioning, will be supplied by Raytheon Canada.

Raytheon says the ASR-10SS Mk2 can be adapted to handle high, medium or low traffic volumes for both approach/departure, and extended terminal airspace coverage. It is designed for unattended operation, using redundant subsystems with Built-In Test Equipment (BITE) and can be fully controlled and monitored from multiple locations.
