The Shaw Group has been awarded an engineering, procurement, and construction management (EPCM) services contract by Castle Peak.

The contract covers a wet flue gas desulphurisation retrofit program for four 680MW units at the Castle Peak Power Station in Hong Kong. Completion of the retrofit is scheduled for August 2011.

Shaw will provide engineering services, procurement support services, construction management, and start-up management as well as supervision and contract administration on behalf of Castle Peak.

The value of Shaw's EPCM contract, which will be included in the company's fourth quarter backlog, was not disclosed.

The Shaw Group previously completed the Black Point combined-cycle gas-fired project with Castle Peak in 2002.

J.M. Bernhard, Jr., chairman, president and chief executive officer of Shaw said ‘Our relationship with Castle Peak enables us to continue our important power-related work within this region. We are especially pleased to start our first air quality control project in Hong Kong.’
