ThyssenKrupp Elevator have been awarded a $150m contract to supply 71 elevators, nine escalators and maintenance services in the Freedom Tower, New York City.
Currently under construction at the site of the World Trade Center, the Freedom Tower will reach 541m (1,776ft) and stand at 105 stories. Completion is expected in December 2011. The fastest elevators in the building will reach speeds of up to 9m/s.

The contract includes 64 gearless and six machine-room-less elevators as well as one geared elevator and nine escalators.
