Titan to acquire IDS

Titan Corporation is to acquire Intelligence Data Systems for $42.5 million in cash.

San Diego, CA-based Titan Corporation is to acquire Intelligence Data Systems (IDS), a high-technology and professional services firm supporting the US intelligence community, for $42.5 million in cash.

IDS, a provider of data mining, high-performance computing, data analysis, information fusion, and information sharing technologies will be immediately integrated into one of Titan’s existing operating units that primarily serves the intelligence community.

Last month, the $2 billion Titan Corporation pled guilty to violating the anti-bribery and the books and records provisions of the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and aiding and assisting in the preparation of a false tax return.

As a result, the company agreed to pay a fine of $13 million to the US Department of Justice (DOJ), and payments to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) of almost $15 million.
