Alstom has strengthened its operations in Russia and the CIS countries through a strategic partnership deal with Russian power engineering company Energomachinostroitelny Alliance (EMAlliance).

Under the deal, the companies will share technology and know-how as well as business development, bidding and contract execution for thermal power plant projects in Russia and the CIS. The deal is seen as the first step in negotiations for several business agreements.

The partners have already concluded the first of these, a Memorandum of Understanding on Circulating Fluidised Bed (CFB) boilers, a clean-coal combustion technology that is increasingly demanded in Russia.

EMAlliance is the management company of JSC Machine-Building Plant ZIO-Podolsk, JSC Engineering Company ZIOMAR and JSC TKZ Krasny Kotelshchik, three major Russian companies with international experience in the design and manufacture of thermal power plant.
