As we mark International Women in Engineering Day, The Engineer, in association with Babcock International, is pleased to announce an upcoming live webinar that will explore the path to leadership for women in engineering.

Taking place on Thursday 17 July, the session will feature two senior executives from Babcock, who will share their experiences and insights on what must change to make leadership roles more accessible and appealing to women across the sector. We’ll also examine how we can build a stronger pipeline of talent, from grassroots through to the boardroom, to help close skills gaps and create a truly diverse workforce.

Despite growing efforts, women remain significantly underrepresented in engineering and technology. Just 16.9% of the UK engineering workforce are women, compared to 56% across all other occupations, and the proportion in leadership roles is even lower.

What you will learn

  • Breaking down barriers - a career in engineering can start anywhere
  • How do you get started and make the switch from other careers into engineering
  • How do you become a successful female leader in the engineering and technology world
  • What are the challenges women face to become leaders and how to tackle them
