Canadian simulator developer

has acquired Tucson, AZ-based Terrain Experts for approximately $10 million.

Terrain Experts, known in the military market as TERREX, develops commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) simulation software – its Terra Vista and SOFViz software are used for real-time 3D image generation, battlefield visualization, and mission rehearsal.

TERREX will continue to operate from its facility in Tucson, AZ while engineering and development teams from both companies will look at ways to integrate some of CAE’s simulation and database software tools, such as CAE Lithos and CAE STRIVE, into the TERREX product line.

Earlier this year, CAE won a $24 million contract to provide European aircraft manufacturer Airbus with two new full-flight simulators. The two CAE-built Airbus A330/A340 simulators are scheduled for installation at Airbus’s training centre in Toulouse, France, at the end of 2006.
