The US TACOM Lifecycle Management Command has awarded General Dynamics Land Systems $43m contracts for parts for Stryker combat vehicles and Abrams main tanks.

The army awarded $33m to buy long-lead materials to repair Strykers damaged in battle. The eight-wheeled vehicle is available in ten variants.

Work on the vehicles will be carried out in Sterling Heights and London, Ontario, Canada. It is expected to be completed by December 2008.

The rest of the contract award covers spare parts to be purchased for Abrams M1A2 tanks equipped with the Systems Enhancement Package (SEP), with work due for completion by June 2009.

The M1A2 SEP digitised platform features a command and control system, thermal sights and armour.
