Canada funds Kettles wind farm

Kettles Hill Wind Energy, a subsidiary of Creststreet Kettles Hill Windpower, has received funding worth $16.5m from the Canadian government for a wind farm project.
Gary Lunn, Minister of Natural Resources, awarded the fund under the ecoENERGY for Renewable Power initiative for the completion of a wind farm in Alberta, Canada.
Kettles Hill Wind Energy will finish building the 63 megawatt wind farm located five kilometres east of Pincher Creek. It is expected to produce 200,000MW each year once it starts operating, enough to power more than 27,000 homes in Alberta.
‘Canada has huge reserves of fossil fuels, but we have to manage those resources wisely to protect the health of our economy and of our environment for the long term,’ said Lunn.
The ecoENERGY for Renewable Power initiative, launched in January 2007, holds a fund of $1.48bn intended for the delivery of renewable energy projects in Canada.
Creststreet also operates a 54MW Mount Copper wind farm near Murdochville, Quebec, and a 30MW Pubnico Point wind project near Yarmouth, Nova Scotia.
