EADS supplies battlefield hospitals

The German

(BWB) has given

an order for the delivery of 30 protected rescue stations.

These are designed to safeguard German soldiers abroad by providing protected containers for medical treatment. The rescue stations are housed in standardised 6m containers and ensure initial medical treatment and emergency care of the highest medical and hygienic level.

With its mobile water and power supply, each air-conditioned rescue station can be operated completely autonomously for a period of up to three days. The systems ordered are designed to be well protected against ballistic fire.

To increase mobility, the rescue stations can be operated from a transport vehicle or trailer. Attached ascending ramps ensure easy access even when using a stretcher. This means there is no need for the container to be loaded and unloaded with lifting equipment, which would also have to be transported.

The overall medical system, known as ‘TransHospital’, is deployed in various configurations by the armed forces of Germany, Singapore, Spain, Slovenia and the United Arab Emirates. The German armed forces also operated EADS field hospitals during their missions in Afghanistan and in the Balkans.
