REpower Systems has signed a contract to deliver 42 wind energy turbines with a total output of 84MW to Enel – the biggest utility in Italy.

During the European Wind Energy Conference (EWEC) in Brussels last week, REpower Systems signed a contract to deliver 42 wind energy turbines with a total output of 84MW to Enel – the biggest utility in Italy and second biggest in Europe.
The 2MW MM92 turbines are destined for three wind farm projects of Enel Erelis in the Champagne-Ardennes region of France.
The ex-works-delivery of the turbines is scheduled for the second and third quarter of 2009. The project will be handled by the French subsidiary of REpower Systems, REpower SAS France, which is located in Paris.
In related news, REpower Systems has completed the installation of a somewhat larger 5MW turbine in Bremerhaven harbour in Germany, which will be operational by the middle of this month.
For its part, Enel has said that it plans to modernise and expand one of its existing wind farms in Frosolone in Italy, replacing the wind farm built by the company in 1995. Within the year, the plant will have 45 wind turbines and an installed capacity of about 38MW.
