Heavyweight deal for Goodrich

Sikorsky Aircraft has awarded a contract to Goodrich for the supply of input and tail drive shaft system for the new CH-53K Heavy Lift Helicopter programme.
Goodrich’s Engine Components site will carry out the development and delivery of the complete drive shaft system, which includes diaphragm couplings, bearing hangars, and disconnect mechanism, for the aircraft.
The US Marine Corps expects to receive 156 CH-53K Heavy Lift Helicopters between 2014 and 2022.
Goodrich also supplies the input drive couplings for Sikorsky on the UH-60/SH-60, the input couplings, tail couplings and tail shaft on the S-92/H-92 helicopters, and has recently been selected to supply the input drive shafts for the S-76D helicopter.
