High tolerance worm gears are profiled at Metav

Following on from the success of EMO in Hannover last September, Renold Gears is using the Metav exhibition in Düsseldorf, Germany to bring its heavy duty and precision dual lead worm gears to a wider customer base.
Renold Gears’ dual lead worm gear sets are ideally suited for use in positional machinery as they provide a kinematically correct gear which can run in either direction of rotation and on which the backlash is infinitely adjustable from an acceptable maximum to zero.
The gears are manufactured in matched pairs and the mounting diameters are designed to fit to the customer’s specific requirements.
Also on show will be Renold Gears’ heavy duty worm gears which are available for use in particularly demanding applications which need strength and reliability such as screw down mechanisms and wire drawing in steel mills.
Heavy duty gears with dimensions up to 2400mm in diameter harness the unique properties of the bronze alloy wormwheel and allow shock loads to be transmitted whilst still ensuring a long life.
