Line scanner survived trial by water

One of Land Instruments International’s LSP61 line scanner heads was returned recently to its US office with a note that said the unit had been underwater during Hurricane Katrina and asking for it to be repaired if needed. When opened up, technicians discovered that the sensitive detector and complex circuitry inside was completely dry and undamaged, thanks to its robust cast aluminium casing.
