Robot walks with damaged limb

Roboticists in Paris have given a hexapod automaton the ability to adapt when it loses a limb or the use of a motor.

Gait adjustment is made possible through the team’s T-resilience algorithm, which helps the robot assess an anomaly and compensate accordingly.

The team, from the Institute of Intelligent Systems at Pierre and Marie Curie University, Paris say their robot currently takes 20 minutes to decide how it will continue with its mission following a mishap.
