developer of systems for high-resolution large-format displays, has signed its first deal with a major manufacturer.

The Cambridgeshire group has secured a €1.7m order from Sambers Italia, a supplier of flat screen displays that trades under the Hantarex name.

Screen Technology’s core product is its patented ITrans tile, which the UK company claims is able to deliver high resolution images from very large display screens of more than 200in.

The properties of the moulded optical fibre tiles give displays excellent visibility in areas of high ambient light, making them easy to view indoors either as close up as 1m or from long distances.

According to the UK company, ITrans can provide up to three times the pixels per unit area of LED screens, allowing the tiles to be scaled up to the size of displays used in shopping malls, exhibition halls and airport lounges.

Hantarex will manufacture display modules using ITrans tiles at its production plant in Milan.
