Spanish contract for Alstom

Alstom has won contracts worth more than €300m with Spanish utility Gas Natural to build, operate and maintain a 400MW combined cycle power plant in Malaga, Spain.

Alstom will deliver an integrated turnkey power plant solution, including a GT26 gas turbine, steam turbine, heat recovery steam generator and Topgas turbogenerator. Alstom will also be responsible for the civil works, balance of plant and the construction of a 13km water pipeline and 5km gas pipeline. Under the associated operation and maintenance contract, Alstom will provide full operation and maintenance services for a period of 12 years.

The construction of the plant will begin in July 2006 and is scheduled for completion in August 2008.

This is the fourth turnkey combined-cycle plant and sixth GT26 engine that Gas Natural has ordered from Alstom in recent years. In 1999, Alstom won similar contracts for two 400 MW combined cycle plants at San Roque in Cadiz and Sant Adria de Besos in Barcelona. In 2003, Alstom won the contract to build a 1200 MW plant at Cartagena.
