SAFECHEM raises benchmark for ensuring process stability in metal cleaning applications with launch of DUALENE™ 1601 S

SAFECHEM, the pioneer of modified alcohols, has introduced the next generation modified alcohol DUALENE™ 1601 S that sets a new benchmark for ensuring process stability in high precision metal cleaning. DUALENE™ 1601 S is the first pre-stabilized, pure and virgin-grade modified alcohol ever developed in the market for a wide range of metal cleaning applications.

Process stability is key to ensuring successful cleaning with modified alcohols. However, outsourcing trends in the supply chain, or changing formulations of manufacturing oils, give rise to uncertainties around the origins and types of contaminations entering the cleaning machine, as well as sources of acids. This can pose a threat to the stability in the cleaning process.

With a built-in alkalinity buffer, DUALENE™ 1601 S has the distinct ability to bolster process stability right at the start of the cleaning process compared to other modified alcohols. It can improve the process safety for all applications and is especially recommended for demanding operations with high stability requirements, including when:

  • Chlorinated oils are cleaned off. This helps prevent the formation of hydrochloric acids which could lead to corrosion of critical machine parts.
  • High amount of particles are present, primarily aluminum, iron, copper, zinc. The particles of such reactive metals can increase the formation of acids in the machine.
  • Unknown contaminations are cleaned off (e.g. contract cleaning).

Due to its polar and non-polar properties, DUALENE™ 1601 S can clean off lubricant greases, polar oil additives, corrosion inhibitors, just as effectively as moist emulsion residues. Its outstanding cleaning result is comparable with DOWCLENE™* 1601, SAFECHEM’s long-standing reference product in the metal cleaning industry with a wide range of approvals and validations.
