Goodrich chosen to supply helicopter rescue hoists

AgustaWestland has chosen Goodrich to supply rescue hoists for its helicopters used in maritime search and rescue operations.

Minnesota-based Goodrich will be expected to fit AgustaWestland’s AW139 helicopters with the rescue apparatus for use around the world.

‘Maritime search and rescue operators for Japan, Spain and the UK will be the first to receive our new high performance, externally-mounted dual DC-electric rescue hoists,’ said Bob Strickland, European business development manager for Goodrich’s hoist and winch team.

Strickland also described the technical specifications of the hoist mechanism, which includes the ability to detect cable offset and cope with high electromagnetic interference levels, and a rope attachment that can be used quickly in extraction and insertion operations.
