Hamamatsu Photonics has introduced a new light to frequency output Photo IC, intended

primarily to replace traditional CdS photoconductive cells. They have been used for

many years in light sensor products, but are now not compliant with new EU RoHS

regulations. The new RoHS compliant S9705 device consists of a photodiode, which is combined with a current to frequency conversion circuit fabricated using Hamamatsu ‘in house’ CMOS process.
