Jubilee Line joy for Alstom

Tube Lines has renewed its contract with Alstom Transport for the maintenance of London Underground’s Jubilee Line fleet. The deal is worth €117m to Alstom.

Alstom Transport has handled the maintenance of the Jubilee Line fleet for the past 11 years. Under the terms of the renewed contract, Alstom will continue to maintain the fleet for a further 10 years.

The Jubilee Line fleet is made up of 63 trains manufactured by Alstom. The line has seen traffic frequency increase significantly in recent years, due in part to the development of business districts in east London. Traffic is expected to rise further when the line serves facilities for the 2012 Olympic Games.

Elsewhere in London, Alstom has managed the maintenance of the Northern Line fleet – the busiest line on London’s underground system - since 1995. Alstom will continue to maintain the 106 trains operating on the line until 2017 with an option for 10 additional years.
