Pakistan radios in order

The government of Pakistan has placed a $76m order for Falcon II high-frequency tactical radios with Harris, the international communications and information technology company.

Harris has been contracted to provide Pakistan with the Falcon II RF-5800H, a high frequency (HF) SSB/VHF-FM system that is said to enable reliable and secure tactical communications. It will also supply ancillary and support equipment, spare parts, training and logistic support.

‘HF technology is critical in providing reliable communications in the rugged frontier areas of Pakistan. Harris radios will help increase collaboration and cooperation, and promote improved situational awareness,’ said Ed Lockwood, vice-president of international sales at Harris RF Communications.

In 2005, Harris received a $68m order from Pakistan to equip the Pakistani army with its tactical radios.
