ThyssenKrupp has deja vu

Heizkraftwerk Würzburg has awarded ThyssenKrupp Xervon Energy a €14m contract to build a second gas and steam turbine system for its Germany-based heat-and-power plant.

ThyssenKrupp Xervon Energy will build and install a waste heat boiler and carry out other necessary construction work on the turbine system for the plant, which is based in Würzburg.

The contract follows on from a project that involved ThyssenKrupp Xervon Energy installing the first turbine system at the plant four years ago. Würzburg expects the new turbine to have an electrical output of 50 megawatts.

With a start-up date scheduled for January 2009, the new turbine system is said to enable the power plant to generate up to 80 per cent of the electricity required by the Würzburg area.
