Water works

Balfour Beatty has been selected as an alliance partner for the delivery of South West Water's K5 capital programme.

The deal will see the London-based engineering group receive more than £100m of the total £590m programme to update South West Water's waste- and clean-water infrastructure.

Ian Tyler, chief executive at Balfour Beatty, said: ‘We are delighted to have been selected to play a major role in South West Water's significant capital programme. Our successful relationship with South West Water began in 1999 and we look forward to working in partnership over the next five years to deliver its programme of works across Devon and Cornwall.'

Balfour Beatty’s involvement will be led by its local business teams and supported by the group’s management.

Over the last two years, the group has secured more than £1bn of major utility contracts with customers including the National Grid in the UK and the US and Transpower New Zealand.
