ABS and polystyrene components are easily laser marked with part numbers and 1D and 2D barcodes. The C02 interaction causes both polystyrene and ABS to exhibit engraved marks with some contrast. To achieve this a text object was created with WinMark Pro laser software. A power value was set equivalent to 25W. Using an FH Series marking head with a 125 mm focusing lens, a nine character text string was marked in a cycle time of 0.2 seconds.
