Mechanical motion

US CAD software vendor Autodesk has acquired Solid Dynamics, the French developer of motion simulation and analysis software.

Based in Roanne, France, Solid Dynamics was founded in 1992 by Dr. Fabien Chojnowski, the CEO and president; and Laurent Chojnowski, director of R&D.

The company's software is used both by commercial manufacturers and in education too - notably in French high schools and universities that offer mechanical engineering courses.

Autodesk plans to integrate the software into future releases of its own design software product line.

Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
