New smoke venting motors from ABB can now take advantage of the surrounding air stream for cooling when mounted inside a ventilation duct.
The motors do not require fans or fan covers and the high air flow available from the main ventilation fan in many cases enables the motor rating to be increased without exceeding the motor’s temperature rise limits. This means a smaller motor size can often be selected, saving cost.
