On the move with Bombardier

has signed a contract with the

for new vehicles and rehabilitation of the two existing Automated People Mover (APM) shuttle systems at

in

.

The contract is valued at approximately $43m and includes the supply of ten Bombardier CX-100 vehicles and upgrades to some of the electrical and mechanical equipment on shuttle legs C and D. The APM vehicles will be delivered between 2008 and 2009.

Bombardier Transportation's facility in

, will be responsible for the design and supply of the ten driverless vehicles. They will replace the airport’s existing fleet, as well as modernise the automatic train control, communications and power supply and distribution systems. This work is in addition to the contract awarded to Bombardier in June 2006 for six new CX-100 vehicles and an underground shuttle system that is scheduled to connect Terminal 3 with the existing D-gate concourse in January 2011. All CX-100 vehicles will incorporate new features, such as on-board security cameras and flight information displays.
