Q&A: Working at the pinnacle of Motorsport Engineering
Isabella Shepard, Graduate Engineer at McLaren Formula 1 Team, shares her journey from university to working at one of the best motorsport teams in the world.

Who are you, what is your job role and what do you do?
My name is Bella, I’m 23, and I’m a Graduate Engineer at McLaren Formula 1 Team. The graduate scheme at McLaren is a two-year rotational scheme which is unique to each individual – we can choose the location and duration of each of our placements to tailor the experience so that we get the most out of it and contribute as much as we can across the business before finding our permanent role. I started the scheme in September, and I have so far completed a five-month stint in competitor analysis before moving over to the Simulator team where I am currently working as a performance analysis engineer and tool developer.
