Embraer has signed a preliminary agreement, worth $730m at list price, to provide Brazilian airline BRA with 20 Embraer 195 jets.
The list price does not include BRA’s option for another 20 jets, which could increase the value of the deal to $1.46bn.
‘The Embraer 195 has a range of up to 2,200 nautical miles (4,077km) non-stop, which will allow BRA to operate the airplane on Brazil’s main domestic routes, as well as to reach several destinations in South America,’ said Frederico Fleury Curado, president and CEO of Embraer.
BRA has also signed a leasing contract with GE Commercial Aviation Services (GECAS) to operate two other new Embraer 195 jets.
Embraer is scheduled to deliver the aircraft, which have a capacity of 118 single-class seats, in 2008.
